Recent Financial Crisis

There is some disagreement about whether the recent economic crisis was due to government inaction or intervention.  I listened to a podcast today at EconTalk which had two people who have the view that excessive government interference was to blame.  Russel Roberts, who runs the podcast, tries to bring in people who have different points of view.  At one point he brought in a Keynesian economist and at another he had Christopher Hitchens discuss his book, Why Orwell Matters, which expresses a favorable opinion about a socialist.  In this last one Mr. Hitchens expresses approval of government provided health care, so Mr. Roberts can hardly be said to exclude guests on account of their views.
