I guess it really was that radical. The title of the film was "Ni Allah Ni Maitre". In any case the film maker has unfortunately changed the name to “Laïcité, inch’Allah” meaning "Secularism, if Allah wills it". I suspect my translation may have exaggerated the case, but this sounds a lot weaker. Caving in to violent protesters only encourages people to protest violently.
